Mother reveals that son, 2, had mistaken such severe facial eczema for strangers to SUNBURN

A mother revealed how people mistook her son for severe sunburn during a family holiday before finding relief in a £ 7.99 cream that she says drastically soothed his skin from the painful and itchy symptoms.

Cherise Sharp, 28, a full-time mother to newborn Rex and two-year-old Roan from Kent, revealed how her eldest son, from two months of age, suffered from eczema, his skin becoming so severe it even started to affect his development.

“Roan was a few months old in and out of the hospital because of several allergies, including dairy,” Cherise explained. “We then noticed that his skin was starting to change, making him very dry and sore.

“He would itch constantly, which only made the pain in his skin worse and often left him in tears.

“In the end, we bought some mittens for him to wear, which we hoped would stop itching. He had to wear these every day, and then we also put on crab stockings at night.

“Before I left home, I’d make sure Roan was wearing his mittens and a long-sleeved top.

Cherise was advised to try Oilatum Junior Cream on Roans eczema and she claimed she noticed the difference after just one use

“I wouldn’t be able to put him in knitted sweaters at all, because the fabric would only rub against his skin, making it worse.”

Since Roan was constantly wearing mittens during the day, Cherise emphasized that this was beginning to affect his development.

“I noticed that Roan was unable to do the things that other kids his age could do,” she said.

‘Especially when we made trips to the park or even just playing with toys at home.

He would have a hard time joining because he couldn’t pick things up so easily.

“When I was on the road, I noticed that people would stare at Roan’s skin; we were on a family vacation and strangers even saw his eczema as a sunburn because they thought i had just left it in the sun to burn!

“I noticed that people would judge so quickly, which made me uncomfortable, especially since I was a mother for the first time.”

WHAT IS ECZEMA?

Eczema is an inflammatory condition of the skin that leads to redness, blistering, oozing, flaking, and thickening.

It usually appears in the first months of life and affects about 10 percent of babies.

The cause of Eczema is not fully understood, but it is suspected to be caused by the skin barrier to the outside world that is not working properly, allowing irritants and allergy-inducers to enter.

It can be genetic because of the condition that often runs in families.

In addition to affecting their skin, patients can also experience insomnia and irritability.

Many factors can make eczema worse. These could include:

There is no cure for eczema, but 70 percent of childhood children no longer have the condition in their teens.

Patients should avoid known flare-up triggers and use emollients.

Although bath water would calm his skin down a little, it was the only day of the day that he wouldn’t wear his mitts, which of course made him itchy.

“Trying to stop him from doing this while trying to bathe him was a real challenge, and a time that should be a mother-son bonding experience would bring him to tears.”

With Roan’s eczema weighing heavily on his development and well-being, Cherise decided to make an appointment with their local doctor, who recommended a few creams for his skin condition.

But since both creams were unsuccessful on Roan’s skin, Cherise decided to go back to the doctor.

“After a few trial and error they told us to try Oilatum Junior Cream,” she explained. “We started using it right away and noticed the difference after just one use.

“After a while of use, his itching drastically reduced, we were even able to let him spend the day wearing no mitts, meaning he could play like a kid his own age.

“Because the cream worked so well, we decided to try Oilatum’s Bath Formula, too. We found that the combination of the two worked so well to soothe Roan’s skin. ‘

“Especially in the evenings, we used the Bath Formula while bathing it and before putting it in his pajamas, put the cream on it. That seemed to really help reduce his itch and that’s why we even stopped putting him in the crab stockings every night.

HOW DOES OILATUM JUNIOR CREAM WORK?

Oilatum Junior Cream is used to soothe and treat atopic eczema, contact dermatitis and dry skin conditions in children and babies.

The product soothes, softens and moisturizes the skin while relieving itching.

It forms a protective film that moisturizes the skin and is especially effective after washing to counteract the loss of oils from the skin.

Oilatum Junior Cream is fragrance-free and suitable for people who are allergic to lanolin. It is also suitable for babies (from birth), adults, children and the elderly.

“Since we started using Oilatum, we have noticed that his development has improved; since he does not wear his mittens, he can now freely use his hands to make puzzles and play with small cars.

“Even our mid-wife at our recent annual appointment emphasized that his development has improved and is now at the same pace as others his age, which was a huge relief to hear.”

Cherise added, “Oilatum has no doubt drastically improved my son’s skin and allowed him to do things he never could do before.

‘I have now started using Oilatum cream on my newborn with mild eczema and his skin already feels soothed and silky. I cannot recommend Oilatum enough. It really saved our lives. ‘

Oilatum helps to treat and reduce the appearance of dry skin and eczema by soothing, softening and moisturizing the skin in children and babies.
