Mother-of-two, 53, loses 55 KILOS and reveals her transformation at her daughter’s wedding

A mother of two astonished family and friends at her daughter’s wedding after losing 55 pounds in a year.

Simone Daglis tapped the scales at 126 kg before embarking on her weight loss journey with husband George, 57, after experiencing a health anxiety in 2017.

On the day of her daughter’s wedding in September 2018, the 53-year-old from The Ponds in northwest Sydney said she was ‘unrecognizable’ to almost every family member – including her own mother – and that is something she will never forget. .

“The priest escorted me to the front next to my mother, and when I sat down the first thing that came out of her mouth was, ‘I didn’t even know it was you,’” Ms. Daglis told Daily Mail Australia.

During her 12-month transformation, Ms. Daglis dropped from a size 24 to a size 26 to a size eight to 10 by swapping giant servings for portion-controlled meals and walking four miles a day.

“Losing weight isn’t easy, it’s something you have to be 100 percent for to see results – but there’s always a pot of gold at the end,” she said.

The Daglis’ were determined to lose weight after a doctor issued a warning about George’s health.

“The doctor strongly advised him that he should start losing weight because he weighed 92 kg,” she said.

“While it wasn’t my control, I knew it would be worse off because I was heavier.”

Ms. Daglis then googled ‘weight loss programs’ before settling for one of the best results: Lite n’ Easy.

“ After doing some research and the fact that my daughter’s wedding was the following year, I knew it would help me lose weight and look good, ” she said.

“I was already thinking about losing weight, but this was the last push to start.”

She started the meal plan the following week.

While the couple originally ate home-cooked meals, Ms. Daglis admitted that their massive portion sizes were the “ downfall ” that led to excessive weight gain.

“We ate three meals a day, but they would be huge meals well in excess of the recommended portion size,” she said.

My husband also has a sweet tooth and would eat a lot of chocolate or candy if it was in the pantry. “It was just too much food we didn’t have to eat.”

In addition to the massive meals, Ms. Daglis skipped exercise due to her demanding full-time role as manager of a doctor’s office.

‘I’m not a sportsman; I hate the gym, so we started walking for 20 minutes every day and when the weight dropped, we managed to walk an hour to four miles a night, ‘said Ms. Daglis.

“We live in an area with a lot of hiking trails, lakes and parks, which was very motivating.”

At the wedding, Mrs. Daglis said when she greeted close relatives, they had a blank look on their faces because they didn’t immediately realize who she was.

“They were chatting and were nice, but they didn’t recognize it was me until someone said my name – and then they were so surprised,” she said.

“It’s a good feeling to know that other people are noticing the difference, and I feel great too.

“I used to feel the heat in the summer and gasp after going up the stairs at home, but now I can do so much more.”

Since her daughter’s wedding, Ms. Daglis has lost another seven kilos and now weighs only 65 kg.

When asked what advice she would give to others who want to lose weight, she advised ‘doing something you can stick to’ to keep them from losing motivation.
