A mother-of-three was allegedly murdered in a domestic violence attack while her partner is charged with murder.
Sarah Miles was found unconscious with head injuries before she died at her Johnston Street home in Casino, northern New South Wales, at 2.30am on Saturday.
Her partner Dwayne John Creighton, 31, was arrested and charged with murder.
Police were called to the scene after a neighbour made a report saying they had heard screams coming from the property.
It took an hour for New South Wales Police to respond to the call and launch an investigation into the matter.
A relative of Ms Miles described her as a “compassionate person”.
‘She was a very intelligent lady. She loved her children,’ he told the Daily Telegraph.
“She didn’t deserve this. It’s absolutely devastating and heartbreaking.”

Miles’ friend Kirsty Lee said she was in shock.
“I can’t believe this happened,” he said.
“Sarah, you were my best friend. I always cared about you and your children. I will always remember you from our school days.
‘You are a beautiful lady, I miss you very much. I wish this were a dream. Rest in peace. My beautiful friend Sarah always loved me and she will never forget.’
NSW Deputy Commissioner Peter McKenna said the call to triple-0 was made at 1.30am, an hour before police arrived at the scene.
“Upon attendance, they found a female unconscious with obvious head injuries,” McKenna said.
It took an hour for New South Wales Police to respond to the call and an investigation into the matter was launched.
‘Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated and he died at the scene. The delay has caused me sufficient concern to call for an independent investigation.
“What (police) were doing before that and what other jobs there were will be part of that investigation.”
The phone call was reportedly categorized as priority three, meaning officers did not immediately respond to the matter.
NSW Police will investigate why the call was given a lower classification and why it took officers so long to respond to the matter.
Creighton faced Lismore Bail Court on Sunday.
