A mum was stunned to find out she is pregnant again just a year after giving birth to quintuplets – and admitted she accidentally forgot to take her contraceptive method for a day.
Haylee Ladner, from Mississippi, suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) with symptoms that include irregular menstrual cycles.
It meant she wasn’t particularly worried after missing her period last month, she said. Today: “We weren’t trying and I was on birth control.”
But the mother of five took a pregnancy test as a precaution and was shocked to learn she was pregnant with baby number six.
Haylee Ladner and her husband Shawn, from Mississippi, were stunned to discover they were expecting another baby just a year after welcoming quintuplets.
The couple welcomed their quintuplets (Adalyn, Everleigh, Malley, Magnolia and Jake) in February 2023.

The mother explained that three of the five children had been hospitalized with pneumonia in December and that it was during this “chaos” that she may have forgotten to take her contraceptive method.
She initially ignored the pregnancy symptoms, explaining: “On the one hand, I was very, very tired, but I assumed it was just because I have five children!”
‘Of course I’m tired. So I just chalked it up to that.’
Shawn had insisted that the couple take some additional pregnancy tests to be sure, but they all came back positive.
The couple headed for their first ultrasound, where doctors confirmed it was a girl due in July.
Haylee said: ‘We thought we were completely done but we were blessed with this sweet surprise.
“This will be our last baby… We plan to take extra precautions.”
Her current brood of four girls and one boy is thriving, she concluded: “Watching them interact together is just the best.”
The couple, who married in 2019, had always wanted to have a large family with at least four children, said Haylee, who is a middle school teacher at Oak Grove Middle School.

She was nervous at first, but soon channeled her feelings into excitement.
“At first it scared me, because they are going to be very similar in age, but if I can handle five, I can handle six!” She exclaimed.

‘They are constantly laughing and smiling at each other. And we just sit there wondering what they’re talking about.’

But after suffering two miscarriages, Haylee was terrified she would not be able to conceive and so turned to intrauterine insemination (IUI) to help them get pregnant.
The procedure is a type of artificial insemination that involves placing sperm into the uterus at approximately the time the ovary releases one or more eggs.
The odds of conceiving quintuplets naturally are one in 60 million, but with reproductive technology that chance increases to six in 10,000, according to reports.
