A Minnesota woman who was stabbed to death by her husband during a Bible study had divorce papers in her car, her mother revealed.
Robert Castillo, 41, was sentenced to 33 years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree murder earlier this year.
On March 21, 2023, Castillo stabbed his wife Corrina Woodhull, 41, more than 20 times while they were both attending a Bible study at a relative’s home.
During her victim impact statement, Woodhull’s mother, Linda Castle, said that when she went to retrieve her belongings from her car, they found divorce papers inside, she reported. KSTP.
“She knew it was time to walk away, and that’s why she’s dead,” Castle said.

The couple attended a weekly Bible study at Castillo’s sister’s home in the 1000 block of Maryland Avenue East in St. Paul.
Castillo stabbed Woodhull up to 20 times with a six-inch blade after whispering something in her ear and she shook her head.
After stabbing her, witnesses said the mother of five begged them not to let her die.
Before the stabbing, Castillo’s sister said the couple had been “acting normal” and that he was holding her hand and kissing her, according to the Pioneer Press.
Her sister and brother saw Castillo stab Woodhull with a hunting knife. Woodhull tried to grab Castillo’s hair to pull him away from her, but family members had to intervene and pull him away, her sister said.
Castillo’s defense attorney, Mark Austin, said the man got high with a friend “and unfortunately ingested so much that he doesn’t remember what happened next.”
Woodhull was found on the ground with serious injuries to her torso, chest and arms and was rushed to Regions Hospital. Upon arrival, the mother of five was pronounced dead.
While speaking to investigators, he asked if Woodhull was “going to be OK” and shook his head in disbelief when he was told she had died.
Castillo’s defense attorney, Mark Austin, said the man got high with a friend “and unfortunately ingested so much that he doesn’t remember what happened next.”
Before his sentence was announced, Castillo apologized before the court and said he assumed “full responsibility.”
“I’m very sorry and I hope that one day you can find the strength in your hearts to forgive me,” Castillo said.

At the time of the stabbing, Castillo had an outstanding warrant for his arrest after failing to attend a pretrial hearing for assaulting an officer while in jail in Washington County.
Castillo has quite the rap sheet, with eight recorded felonies, including assault, robbery and firearm possession.
He was also convicted of hitting another woman with a hammer at his sister’s home and received 10 years in prison.
