A mom has gone viral after sharing her brilliant hack for making easy-to-peel hard-boiled eggs — and all it takes is a few taps with a spoon.
Jordan Burns, a chiropractor and author from Fishers, Indiana, increased Instagram last week to share a video of his mother, Heather Burns, prepping her eggs before cooking them.
“So mom apparently has this egg trick,” he said from behind the camera.
Heather then showed how she uses the back of a metal spoon to tap the bottom of the eggs before placing them in a pan of water.

“Do you hear the click at the end?” she asked her son. “It means the egg white has come off the outside of the shell and they are so much easier to peel.”
“Some take a little longer to click than others, but some break in a few taps,” she added.
Heather explained that this prep for cooking has become a valuable part of her routine because she cooks eggs almost every week.
Before she started using the tapping method, she struggled to peel the shells and had “mutilated” eggs by the time she was done.
“I do this before cooking them. Then, after 10 minutes of cooking, I dip them in an ice bath. Once cooled, crack on the counter and peel away,” she allowed her son to clarify in the comments.
“This has made all the difference for me,” she added. “I’ve tried some other hacks, but nothing has worked as well as this.”

More than a thousand people have commented on the viral video, and many have confirmed that the mother’s egg trick works
Jordan’s video has been viewed 3.6 million times and received more than a thousand comments since it was posted on June 2.
“I just started this and it works great!” one person answered.
“My grandma taught me this trick too,” said another.
‘It functions!’ another agreed. “We do ours the same way, makes a huge difference.”
However, there were also a number of people who did not consider the tapping necessary and offered their egg cooking methods instead.
i use mine [Instant Pot] and it works great for me with no pre-tapping,” commented one viewer.
I just crack the shell after cooking…then put it in cold water,” someone else explained. “Let go so nicely.”
‘Bring a pot of water to the boil after adding a tablespoon of salt. Drop eggs into boiling water for 14 minutes, then dip directly from the boiling water into an ice bath. Wait 5 minutes,’ advised another. “The shells literally come off in two halves. No battle. Don’t mention it.’
