Jasmine Najee, a concerned mother from Dothan, Alabama, has spoken out after her 3-year-old son, Sir Paxton, took an unsupervised trip from his daycare to a nearby Walmart, raising serious concerns about safety protocols at the facility. The incident occurred Tuesday at the Kiddie Care Learning Center, which Sir Paxton attended.
According to Najee, her son asked to use the bathroom and was told by daycare staff to go alone. Unbeknownst to staff, Sir Paxton managed to leave the daycare and walk across the street to Walmart. WLB The young man reportedly wandered around the store for approximately 20 to 25 minutes before a Walmart employee, who happened to be a family friend, recognized him.
Sir Paxton was found with Hot Wheels and snacks in hand, preparing to pay when he was stopped. Security footage revealed that Sir Paxton left the nursery at 4:07pm and police were alerted at around 4:30pm. Despite the alarming situation, the nursery did not inform Najee until almost 5pm, leaving her frustrated and deeply concerned for her son’s safety.
Although Sir Paxton was unharmed, Najee reflected on the possible outcome, saying: “We could be mourning his death.” In response to the incident, Kiddie Care learning centre owner Kishia Saffold issued a public apology. She took full responsibility for the nursery’s failure to protect Sir Paxton, stating: “As the director and owner, I take full responsibility for our failure.”
Saffold also assured parents that the daycare would implement new safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Although the situation ended without harm, Najee and other parents question whether the daycare meets safety standards and stress the need for stricter protocols to ensure the well-being of all children in its care.
