Mother and her six children were killed in a house fire tragedy, despite Dad’s attempts to save them
A mother and her six children died in a devastating fire that destroyed their home in Mississippi.
The heavily injured father of the children managed to escape the fire in Clinton, which broke out early Saturday morning, after unsuccessfully trying to save his children and their mother, The Clarion Ledger reported.
The coroner from Hinds County identified the victims as Brittany Presley, 33, and her children Landon, 15; Lane, 13; Lawson, 12; Grayson, six; Malcom, four; and Felicity, one.
The father of the family, who has not yet been mentioned, was taken to the hospital and suffered from inhalation of smoke, burns, cuts and bruises.
“He was worried and worried. He didn’t want to leave the scene. He was very worried about his family, “said City of Clinton spokesperson, Mark Jones.
WJTV have reported that Ms. Presley was a second grade teacher at the Reuben B. Myers Canton School of Arts and Sciences in the area. Her son, Malcom, was a Pre-K student at the school.
The cause of fire is not yet known, but cheating is not suspected.

In the meantime, heartbreaking images are being captured in the aftermath of the fire, showing children’s clothing between ashes and charred remains.
As the news spread through the small community of Clinton on Saturday morning, tributes poured in for the close-knit family.
Family member Erica Mitchell Nero wrote on Facebook: ‘My family will never be the same again without them, this is so much to take at the moment. I lost my only sister and all my nephews and only nieces’.

“I’ve known these kids since they moved to this neighborhood and they were really good people,” he said.

The Clinton Public Schools District has issued a statement stating that services would be available to all students and teachers affected by death.
“Clinton is a close-knit community and this loss is devastating for our entire school family. When students and staff return on Monday, advisory services are available on every campus for anyone in need of support.
“We will also work with community partners to share information about events and activities to support the family. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family in this time of loss. ”

The fire broke out on Saturday morning at 12.30 on Old Vicksburg Road and Hobby Farm Road, Jeff Blackledge, said Clinton’s fire chief.
The State Fire Marshall has been called in to lead the investigation. The cause of the fire is not supposed to be known, but cheating is not suspected, WLBT3 reported. The age of the house, which was built in 1951, may have been a factor.
