Mother, 31, asked repeatedly if her 19-month-old daughter is biologically hers – because they have starkly different features

A mother has lamented being repeatedly asked if her one-year-old daughter is biologically hers, because they have very different characteristics.

Morgan Hoffman, 31, and her husband Matt, 33, from Florida in the United States, welcomed their daughter Brooklyn in July 2023.

Mrs. Hoffman was surprised to see that Brooklyn inherited all of her husband’s lighter characteristics, rather than her own darker attributes.

Where the mother has dark skin and almost black, curly hair, Little Brooklyn was born with lighter, toned skin and medium brown locks.

The 19-month-old boy also has dark blue eyes, the same as his father’s.

This has led strangers to believe that Mrs. Hoffman is not the Tot’s biological mother.

The couple, from Spring Hill, said strangers they meet are often surprised to hear that Brooklyn is Ms. Hoffman’s biological daughter.

The mother remembers a time when a stranger asked her, ‘Is she yours?’

She said: ‘When Brooklyn was a few weeks old, a lady approached me at a store. She said, “She’s beautiful. Is she yours?”

‘When I said yes, she seemed surprised, and I also had a man in the grocery store a few weeks ago, I asked if Brooklyn was my daughter.

“It was very random and strange to hear.”
