Most people over 50 believe they look younger than other men and women of the same age, a study reveals.

Six in ten consider themselves younger, and only six percent think they look older.

Appearing younger than your peers may be an anti-aging defensive strategy to cope with prejudice and discrimination associated with old age.

“It may be a way of not accepting that some may discriminate against them because of their age,” said researchers at the University of Oklahoma.

The study, published in Psychology And Aging, analyzed data from 2,048 men and women aged 50 and older.
