For those who work in different countries, whether from a desk or traveling by car, plane, train, or bus, keeping track of local differences can be difficult to memorize and prepare for. Even the countries of the European Union that have adopted the euro vary in types of electrical outlets, languages and time zones.
Think Tap Work’s Morpho combines all useful facts and conversion in one app, allowing you to set countries, currencies, and units you prefer as pinned or preset items. You can find out the correct AC adapters to pack, the country code to call attached to the SIM you receive when you arrive, and whether you should drive on the left or right side of the road. But you can also use the app to help you with imperial to metric unit conversions, or even convert gigabytes to megabytes.

It is true that you can consult Google and turn to other applications, such as Soulver or PCalc, to obtain some of this information, in particular, currency and unit conversions. But Morpho packs it all into one place. Even this desk warrior, who rarely travels abroad, regularly calculates prices, units, and time zones to ship the items I make, schedule podcasts, and purchase items from outside the US Morpho makes it easy to find exactly what i need.

Part of the app’s power lies in customization. You can search through its extensive list of units and currencies for kitchen measurements (cups, liters, tablespoons, and the like), global currencies, fuel consumption measurements (such as miles per gallon versus kilometers per liter), volume, and area, and then choose unit. to convert. Units also include power, voltage, shoe size, electrical load, data storage measurements, frequency, angles, and more for less location-specific conversions.
Adding a currency conversion provides both the exchange direction you specify, such as dollars to euros, and a list of other options: the reverse conversion and common unit amounts, such as 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and so on.
You can type input from the keyboard or use a calculator input panel in the lower left corner of the window. If you want to paste any display or conversion values, Control-click and select Copy or Copy Entire Conversion. For example, when calculating 500 miles in kilometers, the copied full conversion appears on the clipboard as 500 miles is 804.672 kilometers
.
The app might even teach you something. For example, did you know that cup measurement comes in imperial, standard/customary (drinking), US legal, and metric versions, all with slightly varying amounts? Neither do I. Be careful when selecting units like that, as Morpho picks them out correctly. In testing, I discovered a bug where converting these measurements would cause an error when copying a conversion. Think Tap Work investigated, found that the bug is in a library that Apple provides for conversion values, and reported it to Apple for resolution.
The country section provides a mini-dossier on standards, units, codes, time zones, and other useful information for a traveler, someone localizing software or a website, or anyone who makes sure they understand how to format information properly. to send it to someone in that country.
In the free version of Morpho, you’ll see a map in the context of other countries, the two-letter ISO code, the country’s international calling prefix, and the side people drive on – an extremely useful fact in some places! The Pro flavor unlocks currency, AC plug type(s), fuel and distance measurement units, languages spoken (and the name of the language in that language and its script), and the names of all time zones and the current time.

Think Tap Work makes the app for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Watch. A free flavor on each platform includes ads, limits the number of conversions you can set to eight, updates coin prices daily, and provides just a little information about each country. Take Morpho for a test drive at this permanently free tier, or use a three-day free trial to try out the Pro features. I recommend the Pro version.
The Pro upgrade is an in-app purchase that costs $0.49 per month or $3.99 per year, allowing you to subscribe on a short or cheap basis. A $14.99 lifetime unlock is also available. The Pro flavor skips ads, updates currency prices hourly, provides much more country-specific information, includes alternative themes and icons, and allows unlimited stored conversions.
Morpho allows you to travel the world from the comfort of your home or office while benefiting those who actually hop from country to country. It’s a global display of literal local values at his fingertips.
