Morningside break-in: Brisbane mother forced to hide with her young children in a bedroom during terrifying home invasion

A mother was forced to lock her front door to protect her young children when a gang of teenagers tried to break into her home.

“They came into the house screaming for keys, looking for our cars,” Sinclair told Nine News.

‘My children, my husband and I were barricaded inside our bedroom, leaning against the door trying to stop it from being kicked in.

‘So much force was used that the door frame broke and the door handle lock came out of the wall.’

The terrified family called triple zero during the attack.

“We kept yelling at the intruders that the police were on the way, hoping that would deter them,” Sinclair recalled.

“If anything, it just encouraged them.”

A photograph of the couple’s battered bedroom door showed it was badly marked with multiple fingerprints.

Ms Sinclair’s husband, Doug Newnham, said he saw the “shadow of a knife” when he was confronted by a group of hooded teenagers in their hallway.

“It’s scary today. It’ll be scary tomorrow, it’ll be scary for a while, I think,” he said. Cairns Mail.

“I wouldn’t have cared if we were robbed blind. I wouldn’t have cared as long as we were all safe.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that “shortly after 1.30am, unknown offenders entered a home and attempted to locate car keys.”

“A neighbour interrupted the incident and the attackers made threats, damaging a wall and a door, before driving away in an unknown vehicle,” the spokesman added.

“No one was physically injured and no property was stolen.”
