Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough responds to being taken off the air following Donald Trump shooting

Frustrated MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said he was “very disappointed” that his flagship morning show, Morning Joe, was taken off the air after the assassination attempt. Donald Trump.

The decision to cancel the show on Monday sparked widespread backlash and suggestions it was an admission by NBC that it did not trust its anchors to cover the horrific shooting.

Scarborough and his co-host and partner Mika Brzezinski returned to the air Tuesday morning and expressed their frustration with the network.

This came hours after Trump received a rock star welcome as he entered the Republican National Convention with a bandage on his right ear, where the bullet fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks pierced the skin.

“Before we start this hour, Willie (Geist, co-host), I just wanted to briefly talk to our friends and viewers who watch us every day and talk about what happened yesterday,” Scarbrough said.

‘We were told, in no uncertain terms, on a Sunday night that there would be one news service on all NBC news channels yesterday and that today’s show would be Lester Holt.

‘Other people that, well, you worked with on Sunday and who were going to be a source of news on all of the NBC news channels, that we were going to keep as a network in breaking news mode all day yesterday.

“That didn’t happen,” Scarborough added, telling viewers how MSNBC returned to its regular programming that included the first day of the Republican National Convention.

“We don’t know why that happened. That didn’t happen.”

“Our team didn’t get a good answer as to why it didn’t happen, but it didn’t. We were also told it would happen throughout the day,

“And I guess after there was such a strong reaction yesterday morning, I guess they changed their plans.

‘And then those plans changed too. So it wasn’t like that.

‘And, you know, we’ve talked about it, off the air.

“We’ll talk about it on the air because we talk about everything on the air. We were very surprised. We were very disappointed. And if we had known that there wasn’t going to be one source of news, from NBC News to all the NBC news channels. Willie, obviously we would have been here yesterday morning.”

Scarborough later said that the next time that happens, they’ll be in the chairs covering breaking news, or else the network can get “someone else.”
