Morgan Wallen’s joke about Taylor Swift during her concert in Indiana backfired on Friday night.

The singer, 30, who followed the hitmaker’s lead by re-recording some of his earlier work, kicked off his One Night At A Time tour at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Thursday.

While the country singer took a break the second night to thank the crowd for showing up to support him, he boasted a little.

“This is the busiest concert in the history of this building, and we’re the first to do it two nights in a row,” the Last Night singer told the crowd, who responded with loud cheers and applause.

He continued good-naturedly: “I’m going to say that until Taylor Swift comes to town.” However, the crowd was not amused, as they booed at the mention of Swift.

Swift recently added three straight nights of shows at the Lucas Oil Center for Nov. 1, 2 and 3, which led to Wallen's comments in the first place. Tickets for all three shows sold out quickly (pictured in Sydney in February)

Some in the audience applauded, but most began to loudly boo the sentiment, shouting out any contrary opinions.

Morgan attempted to appease the crowd and show that there was no animosity toward Swift.

“We don’t have to boo, we don’t have to boo,” he told the crowd who continued to express their displeasure.

Not knowing what to say next, he thanked his fans for supporting him.

‘You are all too much. “I’m a Morgan Wallen and Swiftie fan,” one commenter wrote.

“I am a fan of both and I will not compare their success because they are both very successful singers,” said another.

‘I love Morgan! He will always have a fan in me, but many of his fans are questionable,” one fan wrote.

‘Haha, I’m a Swiftie too!! I love seeing my favorite artists thrive and not tear each other down!’

Morgan appears to be a fan of the superstar himself. Video from one of her 2022 concerts shows the singer and audience faithfully, if not melodiously, singing Swift’s hit All To Well.
