More Former Blackhawks Hit The Waiver Wire

The Hockey News - Chicago Blackhawks

As part of the latest group of players who were cut from their teams and placed on waivers on October 3, two more former Chicago Blackhawks are among them. These are players who played on the team last season and the Blackhawks both left.

Jarred Tinordi was released from the Flames after signing a one-year contract on September 10 and Jaycob Megna was placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers, who signed him on July 5.

Tinordi, 32, played his last two seasons in Chicago, logging 96 games. He was one of the veterans who was there to play when the rookies were having the hardest time.

The tough defender focuses on defense first and plays a physical game that is difficult to play against. He should be one of the Flames’ first calls if they need help during the season.

Megna was drafted by the Blackhawks last season because the team needed reinforcements. He played only two games for the Seattle Kraken’s AHL team before finishing the season with 44 games for Chicago.

He’s also more focused on defense, but this is the second straight season he’s been placed on waivers. Megna provides defensive depth for the Panthers, but may not play in many games this season in the NHL.

Both Tinordi and Megna should have been nothing more than depth for the Blackhawks last season, but injuries and mostly young defensemen not being ready really ruined the plans.
