A British tourist died in a horror head-on crash with a six-tonne truck in Thailand, just hours after wishing his wife a happy Valentine’s Day.

The man was riding a scooter from the beach on the popular resort island of Phuket when the tragic incident took place in the early hours of this morning.

Witnesses said his bike collided with an Isuzu NLR 130 delivery truck and the force of the impact threw the motorcycle through the air towards a gray Toyota minivan, with the vehicles said to have been damaged.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Patak Road in the resort town’s Rawai district. The man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His last online message, posted just hours before his death, read: “I want to wish my beautiful wife a wonderful Valentine’s Day.”

‘The British man was dead when the paramedics arrived. His body has been taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy.

The police officer said details of the incident were sent to the British embassy.
