Monty Don has revealed he was rushed to hospital with a mystery illness over the weekend.

The 69-year-old host announced the news in an Instagram statement while apologizing for canceling some tour dates at the last minute.

Monty, who suffered a minor stroke in 2008, admitted he was monitored in hospital for three days.

He said: ‘I’m very sorry to have disappointed all those people who were coming to see me in Exeter, Truro, Bath and Nottingham.

But on Friday afternoon they rushed me to the emergency room. They kept me in the hospital on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and I had to be on drips and everything else.
