Police will say street racing was to blame for a horrific car crash that killed two brothers in Sydney’s south last month.
Xavier Abreu, 10, and his younger brother Peter, nine, were killed when a Subaru Impreza sedan they were in crashed into a tree in Monterey on August 25.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, was charged in connection with the incident and remains before the courts.
Following an extensive investigation, police have charged a second man after new information came to light about the moments leading up to the crash.
Police allege the Subaru Impreza was involved in a street race with a silver Audi A4 before the driver of the Subaru lost control of the vehicle, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a tree.

A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated dangerous driving resulting in death, organizing and promoting a road race and two counts of failing to stop and provide assistance after an impact causing death.
Investigators went to the Roselands home around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and seized an Audi A4 for forensic examination.
At around 3.30pm the 24-year-old man attended Campsie police station and was arrested.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.
His license was also suspended.
A 24-year-old woman, who was apparently in the passenger seat of the Audi at the time of the crash, was also arrested and charged.
She was taken to Kogarah police station and charged with concealing a serious criminal offence.
The woman was granted strict bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on October 17.
