Australians will never have to block their kitchen drains again with this nifty fat disposal trick, which involves lining the sink with aluminum foil (left) to prevent spills; Once the fat has hardened, the foil should be folded (right) and thrown in the trash
People were amazed at the trick that has gone viral since it was shared early this Tuesday.
‘I wish I [had] I saw this last night, I just blocked my drain, ”one woman replied.
“I’m definitely going to do this from now on, thanks,” said a second.
Others shared their own tried-and-true tricks, such as having a sustainable woman recycle fat to use as cooking oil.
“I’ll pour it into a saucepan, refrigerate, and that night skim off the fat for delicious baked potatoes and the liquid for gravy,” she said.
For oil, I wipe with a paper towel and throw it away. I rarely add oil to anything and roasts, steaks, etc. make their own fat, so I keep it in the fridge. I also have a little bit for the pan for making pancakes, the best! ‘
Another environmentally conscious woman said she pour fat into a bowl, let it cool, and then scrape it into compost.
“Then nothing goes with the trash,” she added.
Some suggested throwing fat directly into a pot or along lawn edges in the garden to prevent weeds from sprouting.
‘I never knew that free and organic weed control. I like this page! a woman replied.
