A deer made a dramatic entrance into a moving bus in Rhode Island.
The bus was traveling on a Warwick street when a deer ran off Sachem Avenue and jumped directly onto its windshield shortly after 3 p.m. on June 10, according to Live 5 News.
The Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) released surveillance footage of the bus that showed the deer flying through the air before nearly landing on a passenger.
There were six passengers on the bus at that time and three of them required medical attention.
The deer suffered a massive head wound and was still alive after impact, but died shortly after the accident.

The Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) released surveillance footage of the bus that showed the deer landing almost completely on top of a passenger.
The deer had been running at high speed off the road before jumping out the window.
This surprised a passenger, who immediately began kicking the deer and stood on the bus seat.
Almost all the other passengers on the bus left their seats and walked away from the aisle.
The deer fell on its side and onto more broken glass, but the animal appeared unable to get up and succumbed to its injuries while still on the bus.
Two of the passengers who suffered injuries from the glass were transported to the hospital, while the third drove to a hospital for treatment.
Following its death, officials with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) removed the deer’s body.
After RIPTA released footage of the crash, interim CEO Christopher Durand gave a statement to the media.
The deer suffered an extensive head wound, which scared a passenger, who immediately began kicking the deer and stood on the bus seat.

“I want to congratulate our RIPTA bus driver, Leocadio Hernández, for his exemplary response to this unique situation,” Durand said.
‘His exceptional alertness and composure under pressure ensured the safety of all passengers. “This incident underscores the dedication and professionalism of our drivers in maintaining the highest standards of safety and care for our community.”
This accident occurred less than a year after AAA Northeast reported that Rhode Island has been experiencing an increase in car accidents involving deer.
“Deer accidents can happen quickly and in unexpected places,” said Mark Schieldrop, lead spokesperson for AAA Northeast. The diary of Providence.

The DEM advised anyone who hits a deer to use caution when approaching the animal.
If an animal becomes frightened, it may injure anyone who appears to threaten its well-being.
