Travis Kelce comforted a fan after she took a shot off target at the AAC on Saturday

The moment Travis Kelce comforted a fan after hitting her in the head with his golf ball on Saturday was captured on video.

While competing in the 35th annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end took several shots into the crowd. On Saturday, Kelce’s errant throw struck a young woman in the crowd, leaving her bloodied.

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend was on the 16th hole at the Edgewood Tahoe golf course when his drive hit the woman in the back of the head. A witness told PEOPLE that streaks of blood could be seen in her blonde hair.

The footage shows the three-time Super Bowl winner comforting the young spectator as he received medical treatment on the field.

As Kelce stood near the fan, another missed shot sailed over the crowd, who reacted audibly in unison. After another near miss, Kelce remained in place as security shielded the fan from the crowd.

“I’m going to say they should probably step aside,” Kelce said as he walked away from the scene.

Her brother and tournament rival, Jason, also checked on the woman, who reportedly said she wasn’t sure which of the two Kelce brothers actually took the missed shot.

She was eventually able to stand up on her own after several minutes of sitting on the ground. Staff carried her off the field and play quickly resumed.

However, Kelce finished his first round tied with legendary pitcher Roger Clemens and SNL alum Colin Jost for 62nd place, representing a significant departure from 2023, when he won the tournament.

Interestingly, Travis offered Jason some prophetic advice about the event during a recent podcast episode.

“This is my first time in Lake Tahoe, do you have any tips?” Jason asked Travis on an episode of New Heights.

“My advice would be to not feel bad if you hit someone because they bought the ticket,” Travis joked.

“There’s a bunch of amateurs trying to play golf, so don’t feel bad,” Travis continued. “People have been hit by cars before. There are paramedics, whatever their name is, that are there at every hole. Everybody’s going to be OK.”

The Chiefs star would put his own advice into practice at the start of the tournament. Not only did he hit the aforementioned woman, but a tee shot from Kelce also headed into the crowd on the first hole, where it hit a man in the arm.

A video posted on X showed Kelce marching around the field with a marshal before locating the fan who was shot. Upon meeting the gentleman wearing a bright blue shirt, Kelce proceeded to shake his hand before leaning in to kiss his arm.

The apology was met with laughter and cheers from the crowd at Edgewood.
