A street performer in New York’s Times Square was ‘defeated’ with a kick to the shin by a young Captain America – but it sent the comedian flying towards a nearby musician.
New York comedian Esteban Romero portrayed his famous character named “Dontarius” in a 2022 video that he reposted on his Instagram yesterday.
In the video, Dontarius begged a woman for money while wearing tattered gray sweatpants.
After she angrily blasted him, a little boy dressed as Captain America kicked Dontarius in the shin, causing him to fall onto a musician.
The young superhero then continued to run after Dontarius and hit him repeatedly with his shield.
It’s unclear if anyone was injured, but it appears in the newly resurfaced video that everyone involved escaped unharmed.
New York comedian Esteban Romero played his famous character named “Dontarius” in Times Square in 2022 and he reposted the video on his Instagram on March 17.
Romero’s Dontarius was criticized by an annoyed woman, resulting in him being kicked in the leg by a boy dressed as Captain America.
Romero’s “Dontarius” has starred in various viral videos over the past few years since beginning his comedy career in 2003.
Interestingly enough, Romero had some commonalities with his character Dontarius as he himself was homeless for a few years.
“I’ve been a bum, I’ve been homeless,” he told the New York Post in 2022.
Romero revealed that he squatted in a Brooklyn apartment building from 2013 to 2019 and slept on the subway.
His character Dontarius was featured in videos filmed in New York City subway stations. A notable video that went viral on social media in 2023 showed his character confronting Spider-Man in a subway station on Utica Avenue.

The New York comedian has collaborated with several comedians and writers and even fought with Spider-Man in a subway station
Spider-Man ultimately won and this led to Romero’s “Dontarius” being pulled down the stairs by the superhero.
Romero also posted an additional video yesterday of his character Dontarius on a subway and he wasn’t actually begging for money.
Instead, Dontarius was angry at a passenger who stepped on his new sneakers.
Romero began yelling and screaming and eventually pushed the passenger against the doors and threw him out of the subway.
Since sharing the videos, Instagram users have added several laughing emojis in the comments sections.
Social media users have enjoyed watching the videos Romero has posted over the years and commented on the original re-post of his video filmed in Times Square.
Instagram users who didn’t give laughing emojis mentioned the little boy and woman featured in the video.
“A woman with standards is rare,” joked one user in the comments section.
Some Instagram users who commented on the original 2022 video revealed how they recognized Dontarius.
“Ayo, this is the same man who stole this rice from this woman on the train,” one person wrote.
One Instagrammer quickly realized that the video itself was a joke and it was all planned.
