A moment a screaming couple of tourists beg the captain of a cruise ship to wait while the other laughing passengers film them from the departing ship in Italy
A couple of tourists were filmed screaming and begging a cruise ship captain to wait for them while other passengers watched in amusement.
Footage uploaded to TikTok shows two travelers at the port of Bari in southeastern Italy on August 15, where the MSC Splendida was about to depart.
The couple missed their scheduled departure time and when they arrived at Pier 11 the nearly 1,100ft ship’s gangway had already been removed.
The man was shouting and pleading repeatedly, “Is the captain there, please?” He later added, “Captain, please wait for us. You can do it if you want.’
One of the more than 4,000 passengers on board filmed the scene and could be heard laughing in the background because of the couple’s persistence.

The woman filming said to another passenger: ‘What is he talking about? What does that mean? Oh maybe he missed the cruise,’ adding that she think the couple were late for departure.
Ugo Patroni Griffi, chairman of the Southern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, told the Italian newspaper Republic: ‘They tried to ask the ship to turn back or at least stop operations.
“Obviously that’s impossible for cruise ships which have limited times and are also very expensive operations.”
Among other reactions to the video, one user said: “I understand the fault lies with the gentleman, unfortunately if you do it once everyone demands it.”
“The cruise has timetables and they must be respected. But guys, let’s put ourselves in their shoes! We would all have been desperate!

Most others seemed to agree with him, with another commenting on the ‘hilarious’ video: ‘If they go over even 10 minutes they have to pay for mooring for a whole day…
“If you arrive late, take the boat to the next port.”
