Moment Philadelphia rapper Phat Geez is shot dead outside his home after arguing with suspects who then fled in car

A Ring doorbell captured the moment Philadelphia rapper Phat Geez was gunned down outside his home over the weekend.

The video clip, which was posted online, shows Derrick Gant, 28, his real name, leaving his home in the Brewerytown area of ​​the city on Saturday evening.

Gant can be seen walking toward a silver car parked outside the residence and can be heard speaking with the person inside the vehicle.

The conversation between Gant and the passengers in the car seemed to intensify and they began to argue.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 10 p.m. and found Gant lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The late rapper released the music video for No Gunzone just a month before his death.

The video shows the rapper, at one point, singing about a murdered body – covered by a sheet – along a sidewalk with crime scene tape in the area.

Police have not made any arrests in this case. The motive and description of the suspects and their vehicle have not been released.

Gant rose to fame after releasing his song Life in 2014 with Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill.

He released his debut mixtape Cut from a Different Cloth later that year and was releasing music under PricelessLifestyle Records before his death.

One of his latest songs called No Gunzone was named after an Instagram account of the same name that promotes anti-violence efforts in the city.

The rapper had a brief encounter with several people in a car around 10 p.m. Sunday near the 1200 block of North Taney Street.

“Growing up on the streets of Philadelphia and daring to be different, that’s who he was. He took his own chance when no one else would have.

“How dare you, how can you go to sleep at night knowing that you did this to someone senselessly?”

Gant had frequently published articles about his faith in Islam and was killed during the holy month of Ramadan.

Fox continued: “Justice will be served. It is our holiest month of Ramadan. He was Muslim, so we know he is in heaven, but at the end of the day, we are still here in grief, shock and disbelief.

Several social media users have paid tribute on platforms X and Instagram since the brutal murder.

Gant rose to fame after releasing his song Life in 2014, featuring Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill. Mill was one of the social media users who reacted to Gant’s death.

One of Gant’s latest songs, titled No Gunzone, references an Instagram account of the same name that promotes anti-violence efforts in Philadelphia.

The music video for No Gunzone was released a month before his murder. One of his latest Instagram posts that he posted yesterday was a clip from the video.

One of the people who commented on Gant’s death was Mill himself, who posted: “Rip phat damn…..Philly is a terrible place to live for black people…you see too many deaths!!!! Mmh.’

Mill also posted a tribute to Gant on his Instagram Story, adding, “I think it’s time to completely break down the streets of Philly!” Lots of armed mannequins.

Media personality Mina Saywhat also commented on the post of Gant’s passing: “I can’t believe Phat Geez is gone. Philadelphia is in a state of emergency.

On Wednesday, a memorial service for Gant was held at the Germantown mosque before a burial at Chelten Hills Cemetery, according to Fox.

A $20,000 reward is now being offered by law enforcement for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Gant’s murder.
