A shocking video captured the moment a motorcyclist crashed into a car, leaving many wondering who was at fault.

The motorcyclist appeared to be speeding through the middle of a busy road when the accident occurred.

Dashcam footage posted on social media shows the car crossing the solid double white lines painted on the road and colliding with the motorcycle as it sped past.

The front bumper of the car broke off the vehicle and the motorcyclist was thrown into the air.

Fragments of the car and motorcycle flew across the road and the motorcyclist writhed in pain on the concrete.

Images of the accident sparked a debate on the Internet, with many pointing out the mistakes of both drivers.

Some commentators believe the car is at fault because it crossed a solid line and did not appear to check its surroundings.

“It is illegal to cross a double yellow line or double yellow line, especially when exiting a carpool lane that has specific entry and exit points. The car is 100 percent at fault,” one person said.

“(The car) Come on, you don’t have a license or what! You don’t cross those double lines no matter what, and it’s not illegal for bikes to ride near the carpool lane,” said another.

“Not only is this guy going to pay over two grand for crossing a double solid line, he’s also going to get sued by the guy on the motorcycle. He better fork over his retirement money,” a third person said.

Others said the motorcyclist was to blame for driving recklessly through traffic and trying to pass other cars.

“I’ve never understood why cyclists don’t ride on the hard shoulder in traffic jams. I’m surprised this doesn’t happen very often,” one person said.

“The bike. It’s not supposed to go through traffic like that,” another person said.

“The bike was going too fast to be in traffic, it was splitting lanes. It’s the bike’s fault… as always,” said another.

Many said both drivers were at fault and noted that each of them violated traffic laws with their actions.

‘They are both at fault, (the car) crossing the double line and the cyclist, just because you are a cyclist doesn’t mean you can drive in the double lane; you are subject to the same laws,’ said one onlooker.

“This is a matter of who makes the mistake versus who makes the mistake,” said another.
