Moment mother’s 50th descends into a drunken battleground in scenes likened to TV show ‘Shameless’

A 50th birthday party turned into scenes of violence – reminiscent of the TV show ‘Shameless’ – when a drunken brawl broke out over a ‘stolen’ e-cigarette.

Lisa Keegan had been celebrating the milestone with friends and family in her yard until her drunken bash turned sour when an argument turned into a huge fight.

Family friend Adam, 40, jokingly squeezed a teen’s vape device, but the situation quickly escalated after Lisa’s daughter’s boyfriend Tony stood up for him.

Lisa tried to break up the smoking pair but found herself in the middle of a scrap yard, with footage showing the two warring rivals punching each other.

They then fell to the ground, before wrestling each other in the grass, while Lisa and her other guests struggled to pull the pair apart in the midst of the fight.

The fight was sparked by Adam, pictured in the white t-shirt, jokingly grabbing an e-cigarette from a teenager who was also at the party. Tony, right, ended up punching his mother-in-law who yelled at him to stop

Tony, 52, starts waving wild punches at Lisa instead of the man he’d been fighting, causing her to yell “no, you’re hitting me.”

Colleen Jarvis, Lisa’s daughter, then falls backwards over a chair amid the chaos as other guests filming the incident begin to laugh.

Furious Lisa eventually separates the couple to gain control, before finally warning Tony by picking up a chair and waving it at him.

Lancashire Police have confirmed they were present at the alcohol incident, while the investigation was ongoing after escorting a man home.

The video, captioned “this is how birthday celebrations end,” was shared more than 13,000 times by Colleen and received 300 comments, with users finding the incident hilarious.

Lisa compared it to the BBC cult drama Shameless, but admitted it made her 50th birthday one she ‘will never forget’.

Lisa, from Colne, Lancashire, said: ‘You are only 50 once and this is certainly a birthday I will never forget! It was chaos.

“Adam was just turning people on, and he took an e-cigarette for a boy. Tony stood up for him, but instead of hitting Adam, he hit me.

“They couldn’t make a fist because everyone was so drunk. I was in the middle of breaking up with it, but I should have just left them alone.

“The video is hilarious. It’s like something out of Shameless. I was like Meme. When I fell backwards, I just started laughing. Even the dog barked to warn them.

“When I looked back, I thought ‘oh my days.’ I was humiliated. We’ve gotten a lot of criticism for it, but some people call me a legend. Many of my friends think it’s brilliant.’

The family say some neighbors found the whole incident hilarious, with Lisa’s Staffordshire bull terrier Star, nine, barking to get involved in the mess.

Tony laughed off the incident, joking that he’s “too old to fight” now, but says he’s grateful to the police for the “lift home.”

Tony said, ‘It’s funny looking back. My girlfriend fell over, Lisa screamed and screamed, everyone fell everywhere.

Adam was cocky, but we were all confused. It was funnier than anything. He’s not my size, but I know him. He’s a nice boy.’

Despite the police being called to the scene, both Tony and Adam say they made up for it by the end of the night.

Adam, who claims he hadn’t drunk in the past five years, admitted the fight was a “drunken mess.”

He said, “It was more like shadow boxing. We had one too many, then a few crosswords and that’s what happens.

‘I didn’t mean any malicious intent. And we laughed and joked about it later. It was more of a drunken fit than anything else.

“I’ve done worse, and that’s why I don’t drink. It’s the first time I drank in five years. We sat in the heat, drank gin and then it all went on. At least people could laugh about it.’

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: ‘We were called to a building on Slater Avenue in Colne at 7pm on May 28 due to reports of two men fighting.

“One man has been transported home and the investigation is ongoing.”
