Police are investigating a shocking attack on a cyclist who was strangled and thrown to the ground by an angry motorist in broad daylight.
Disturbing footage showed the horrific assault that took place in Edinburgh’s Old Town on Friday afternoon.
The video shows the 34-year-old cyclist standing in front of a white car on High School Wynd, talking to a female passenger as the angry driver honks his horn.
The man on the bike appeared to be having a heated argument with the woman, who was wearing a blue hoodie and grey sweatpants.
The angry driver of the vehicle got out of the car and walked towards the cyclist.

After grabbing him by the neck, he threw him to the ground in shocking scenes in Edinburgh.
The injured cyclist was left lying on the ground. He was taken to hospital for examination.
He then launched a terrifying attack on the cyclist, using both hands to grab his neck before throwing him to the ground.
The cyclist lay on the ground while the driver and passenger returned to the vehicle, which had a license plate on the windshield.
The man on the bike can be seen clutching his head after being thrown onto the road.
Parts of his bike also exploded on the road amid the violent attack on the road.
Emergency services rushed to the cyclist’s aid and police confirmed they are investigating the attack.
Detectives also confirmed that he was taken to hospital to have his injuries examined.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘At around 6.25pm on Friday 20 September 2024, we received a report of a cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the driver of a car on High School Wynd, Edinburgh.
‘The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital for examination and officers are following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the incident.’
