Moment fugitive’s ‘Santa-antics’ go badly wrong when he tries to hide down a chimney

This is the moment a man was arrested after becoming trapped in a chimney while trying to flee from police across a roof.

Robert Langlais, 33, was inspired by Santa Claus and tried to hide inside the well in Fall River, Massachusetts, on December 10.

But he quickly became trapped and had to be rescued by the same officers he was fleeing from; The incident was captured on police body camera footage.

Police said Langlais and another man fled a property where they were carrying out a search warrant and the pair ran across the roof.

“A man eluded capture by jumping from the roof onto a parked vehicle,” the City of Fall River Police Department said in a Facebook post.

‘The other man, later identified as Robert Langlais (33 years old), invoked the essence of the seasonal icon and attempted to hide inside a chimney.

“Langlais quickly became trapped in the chimney and needed the help of the same detectives he was previously fleeing from.”

The 33-year-old man was rescued with the help of the Fall River Fire Department and Fall River Emergency Medical Services and taken into custody.

“Due to his Santa Claus antics, Langlais was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and was released,” the Fall River Police Department added.

Langlais has now been charged with possession of class A drugs, possession of class B drugs and a “number of charges stemming from outstanding warrants,” authorities said.
