A shopping center security guard appeared fearless when he tackled a hammer-wielding teenage thief as he and his accomplices carried out a break-in at a jewelry store in Canada.
Cellphone footage shot by shocked bystanders captured the moment six mall police officers rushed to the scene as they witnessed the theft in progress at White Carat Co. Diamond in the Brampton mall, in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The trio of thieves could be seen smashing glass display cases while ransacking the premises and emptying the contents into backpacks, trying to escape with whatever they could carry before being apprehended.
Six security guards quickly arrived on the scene, with one male officer bravely tackling the man who appeared to be the ringleader, armed with a hammer.

At one point, the hammer-wielding thief attempted to intimidate security by standing on the display case.
The leader, armed with a hammer, is visible while his two accomplices hide in the back.
“Drop the damn hammer!” » the policeman asked several times, but the thief refused.
The man then tried to appear even more threatening and climbed onto one of the holsters holding the gun in the air before jumping out of the holster.
Security forces could then be seen apprehending the man on the ground.
Another man wearing a black hoodie then walks away from the back of the store as more security guards approach.
Other mall security officers quickly rushed to the scene, despite there being six in the store at one point.
The ringleader could be seen in a gray hoodie while another accomplice could be seen in a black hoodie.
At one point, six security guards were involved in a fight with the thief.
Other thieves managed to escape the clutches of mall security personnel.
Working as a team, the group managed to capture the arrested teenager, while his two accomplices, in black hoodies and disguises, fled and escaped the clutches of the guards, unable to hang on.
Police said the trio demanded money and jewelry before removing a “significant amount of merchandise” from the smashed display cases.
Evan Sosa-Reyes, 18, of Brampton, Ontario, was charged with robbery and wearing a disguise.
No physical injuries were reported by store staff or security guards.
