Body camera footage revealed the dramatic moment when a hero cop rescued an 8-year-old girl from a sudden flood in Ohio this week.
Walton Hills Police Officer Tom Cercek was praised for rescuing the child, who was stranded on a slate edge by the raging waters of Bridal Veil Falls in Bedford, approximately 17 miles south of Cleveland, on Tuesday.
Cercek can be seen in the images dropping a thin rope on the unidentified girl, who tied it around her waist so that he could pull her out of the danger zone.
An adult woman and another child related to the girl had managed to get to safety the moment the flash flood surprised the family after a sudden shower of rain.

Body camera footage (photo) revealed when officer Tom Cercek of the Walton Hills, Ohio police department used a rope to pull an 8-year-old girl stranded on a slate edge by a raging torrent at Bridal Veil Falls in Bedford, about 27 miles south of Cleveland on Tuesday

The child is depicted when she was pulled up to a muddy bank by Cercek. An adult woman and another child related to the girl had managed to escape when the sudden flood surprised the family after a sudden rainstorm
The family enjoyed the creek feeding the falls when they were suddenly overtaken by a wall of water due to the rain, WOIO reported.
Two witnesses managed to find Cercek, who is spotted in the images running after them to the scene and shouted, “What’s going on?”
He later discovered that the family members had taken refuge on the west side of the creek.
The officer instructed the family members to turn sideways from the water, then turned his attention to the young girl. “Hey, wait!” he yelled at the child.
The officer then climbed a muddy bank to get closer to the child while unraveling a thin rope.
He threw the rope at the girl and shouted “to your body,” telling her to tie the rope to himself so he could pull her up to where he was on the dock.
“Oh my god, thank you, thank you. Thank you very much, ”the child told the officer after being able to pull her up.
The girl is heard in the footage and says, “Oh my god, thank you, thank you. Thank you very much ‘when Cercek finally pulled her on the rope. She is shown approaching the officer to hug him after the rescue
The child is greeted by grateful family members after the rescue
The child groaned with relief after resting for a few moments under the officer’s care.
He can later be seen in the images approaching the child after she was reunited with her family.
‘Are you all right? What’s your name?’ he asked as the two hugged each other.
Cercek never appears in the camera images of the body. The officer is depicted in an image on the department’s Facebook page
