Moment baseball bat-wielding Queens homeowner catches porch pirate after leaving decoy parcels on his stoop to lure the thief

A Queens homeowner came out swinging a baseball bat after a porch pirate fell into his trap while trying to steal empty door packages.

Carlos Mejia was tired of thieves stealing delivery boxes from his front porch, so he set up a stack of decoy packages to lure them into a trap.

Security footage captured the dramatic moment when a suspected porch pirate approached the house to seize the boxes, but not before Mejia emerged from his home brandishing a baseball bat.

As the man tried to stuff the packages into his backpack, Mejia confronted the panicked man who yelled, ‘Oh shit, me me me.’

Mejía asked ‘what do you have there’, while stopping the alleged thief with his hand.

“These are my things,” the bandit said, despite having been brazenly caught in the act of stealing the boxes from Mejía’s house.

“You can have it all, brother,” the porch pirate said desperately.

Mejia then told him to “get on your knees” as he pushed the man to the ground.

As the man pleaded with Mejia, saying, “I live on the corner,” the homeowner said he didn’t care.

Meanwhile, a woman, who had also left the house, watched the drama unfold on the front steps.

“I was just trying to set an example for those who do the same thing…steal from others,” Mejia told Storyful.

In a separate video, police arrived to confront the porch pirate, who was currently lying face down on the ground screaming hysterically that he needed an ambulance.

“Officer, why are you arresting me?” he shouted as the police handcuffed him to the ground.

“They’re under arrest right now,” the officer responded.

Officers arrested the alleged thief, identified as Victor Stazzone, 36.

He was charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and burglary.
