This is the shocking moment a crazed dog sinks its teeth into a pug and refuses to let go as bystanders try to stop the attack by fighting it off with a chair.
Horrific images of the attack in Leith, Edinburgh, yesterday captured the moment the helpless pug moans in agony as he is mauled by a dog more than twice his size.
During the video, a group of five bystanders are seen trying to remove the dog’s strong grip on the pug, but their force proves too much.
A man is heard shouting: “Get down, I swear to God I will kill him!” While the man filming the video can be heard saying: “I knew that dog was causing trouble when I saw it… that’s outrageous!”
At one point, the pug is seen being lifted off the ground by its leash as the owner attempts to free it, but the attack dog manages to grab it and drag it back to the ground.

The owner is seen trying to get the pug away from the attacking dog, but it won’t stop biting.
As the traumatized pug’s screams grow louder, a woman from a nearby pharmacy appears with a chair and attempts to slam it between the two dogs in an attempt to free the injured canine.

While other members of the group help fight the beast with a chair, another woman tries to kick it until she finally frees the pug.
In the video a woman can be heard saying: ‘Is that a dog? “That’s fucking scary.”
Police Scotland said they were aware of the attack, but the dog has not been captured.
They were unable to confirm the breed of the dog but it is understood that it is not an XL Bully.
However, XL Bully campaign group Bully Watch condemned the attack by the “XL Bully type dog” and claimed the owner had “no control over him”.
Shocked onlookers reacted angrily to the attack, with one writing: “These dogs should not be owned by the public.”
Once the pug is finally freed, two men restrain the frantic dog to prevent it from attacking anyone else.
Another wrote: “This animal is too powerful for its safety to be in the hands of untrained owners, let’s ban them.” And I love dogs, but I love not seeing people mutilated anymore.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 1.15pm on Monday 3 June, 2024 officers were made aware that a dog had bitten another dog in the Newkirkgate area of Edinburgh.
‘There were no reports of anyone being injured during the incident.
“The owners of both dogs were located and the corresponding information was given to them.”
