This is the moment a 700ft cruise ship crashed into a dock in a Turkish port after desperately trying to slow down.
The cruise ship Celestyal Journey was making a routine arrival at the port of Kusadasi, Turkey, last week when it struck the concrete pier with its bulbous bow.
The crew misjudged the speed and approached the dock too quickly, causing the collision. Cruise Hive reported.
Members of the ship’s 597-person crew reportedly dropped anchor in an attempt to slow the approach, but despite their efforts the ship crashed into the dock.
The collision caused only minimal damage to the ship and dock. No injuries were reported on board or on the ground.

The Celestyal Journey crashed into a pier at the Kusadasi cruise port on Monday last week at 12:00 local time while the crew was attempting to dock.
According to Cruise Hive, passengers were still able to enjoy their day in Kusadasi, one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world, as planned.
The port, which has eight berths for large ships, is the most popular cruise port in Turkey. Officials say the incident has not negatively affected operations.
Celestyal Cruises, which operates the ship and two other vessels, did not have to alter any routes following the incident.
The Celestyal Journey entered service in 1994 and initially sailed for Holland America Line as Ryndam. Celestyal Cruises acquired the cruise ship last year.
The cruise ship has 630 staterooms, including 149 with balconies, and offers guests access to seven exclusive restaurants and eight bars and lounges. Haber7.com reported.

Celestyal Journey is currently sailing seven-night cruises in the Aegean Sea region until the end of October 2024.
However, unlike a typical closed-loop route, Celestyal Journey’s round-trip journeys overlap, allowing guests to embark and disembark in Kusadasi, as well as several cities in Greece.
Travelers can start their trip in Heraklion, Crete, Greece; Piraeus-Athens, Greece; or Thessaloniki, Greece.
The ship’s final voyage across the Aegean Sea will begin on October 19 this year. She will be followed by a 14-day repositioning cruise from Athens to Doha, Qatar.
Once arriving at her new home port in Doha, Celestyal Journey will offer seven-night round-trip sailings to the United Arab Emirates.
