A clever mum has revealed a ‘genius’ trick to halve the amount of time spent ironing by using an unusual cupboard item.
In a now viral video, Gemma Bird, from Essex, took some tinfoil, spread it under the ironing board cover and then replaced the cover on top.
By adding the aluminum foil, you will only need to iron one side of the clean clothing as it reflects heat.
‘Did you know this? This is amazing, it cuts your ironing time by half, which means you cut half the energy you use!’ she wrote.
‘Plus, if you’re like me and hate ironing, we all win! No need to change the aluminum foil, you can keep the same one for months! Make sure you place it gently and a good tip is to pull the cover back to allow it to vent.’
Gemma Bird, from Essex, placed aluminum foil under the ironing board cover. By doing this, you will only need to iron one side of each garment.
“You will only need to iron one side (of your garment), as the aluminum foil reflects the heat, taking care of the other side,” Gemma wrote.
“This will save you time and money, as well as energy.”
The short clip has since been viewed a staggering 611,000 times, with many praising Gemma for sharing the advice.
Not everyone was convinced though, as some admitted they barely iron their clothes.
“I only iron one side anyway,” one wrote.
‘I love this trick. Is it bad that I don’t iron? Haha,” added another.
Someone else shared their own advice, saying: “Toss it in the dryer with a slightly damp flannel; the steam will remove the wrinkles in about five minutes.”
“You will only need to iron one side (of your garment), as the aluminum foil reflects the heat, taking care of the other side,” Gemma wrote (file image).
Earlier this week, an Australian mum revealed her secret olive oil ‘trick’ to stop pots from overflowing – and it works every time.
Leanne Neiland from Queensland was fed up with having to deal with her pots constantly overflowing with boiling water and ruining her cooking experience.
The mother-of-two finally discovered a cooking trick that ensured this would never happen again, and all she had to do was coat the edge of her plate with olive oil.
