To check if your pillow has expired, Chantel recommends doing a simple ‘bounce back’ test by folding it in half and holding it still for 30 seconds (pictured)
If you have a synthetic model, it should be replaced as often as every six to 12 months, while with a down pillow you should check every two to three years.

Fold your pillow in half on a surface, then keep it folded for 30 seconds.
“Pillows should bounce back when they’re fresh,” Chantel said.
If they don’t bounce back, it probably means it’s time to invest in a new model.

“This is such a good idea, I didn’t know you could do this,” one commenter wrote.
“Thanks for the tip – going to check mine now,” added another.
Some said they wash their pillows regularly and asked if this is enough.
“It’s definitely still important to wash your pillows every quarter,” Chantel said.
However, if you own synthetic pillows and haven’t replaced them in over a year, it’s likely they’re expired.

Chantel has built a huge following on TikTok, where she shares helpful household tips and tricks, as well as product recommendations.
Previously, she revealed the inexpensive ways to make your bedroom look and feel like a hotel, and her simple trick to get rid of the creases in your sheets without ironing them.
The first is by sprinkling half a cup of baking soda and four drops of essential oil of your choice on your mattress.
Chantel uses Dream Drops from Eco Modern Essentials, which contains a ‘soothing blend’ of scents consisting of lavender, geranium and ylang ylang.
“Then leave the mixture on the mattress for an hour and suck off the excess to make it smell great,” Chantel said.
“Just spray tap water from a spray bottle when you tuck your sheets in to remove the creases without ironing,” Chantel said (pictured)
The second way to make your bedroom look and smell incredible is to put on clean sheets.
“Just spray tap water from a spray bottle when you tuck your sheets in to remove the wrinkles without ironing,” Chantel said.
Concentrate on the most wrinkled areas and pull the sheets tight when you spray the water.
The reason this works is because the water will tackle the creases and gently loosen any creases that may have formed in the washing machine.
It is often used in hotels to save time and ironing.
The third way you can make your room feel more like a hotel than a bedroom is to choose lighter colored linen for your pillows and bed (pictured)

“Choose lighter linens, clothes and pillows to make your room cozy and bright,” explains Chantel.
Light colors make a room appear more spacious and modern, as opposed to dark colors which can close off the room and make it appear smaller and old-fashioned.
