A grieving mother who lost her daughter in the New Orleans terror attack has revealed how she begged her not to go out in the Big Easy on New Year’s Eve.

Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux, 18, was one of 14 people killed when a car plowed into crowds in the city’s French Quarter in the early hours of Wednesday.

The high school graduate had sneaked out of her Lyman home with her cousin and their 18-year-old friend Zion Parsons to attend the festivities.

Her mother Melissa Dedeaux, 40, told how she begged her daughter not to go.

“When your parents say don’t go anywhere, listen to them,” the affected parent wrote

“This was an act of terror and now my baby is gone, y’all. My baby is gone, she is no longer with us.

‘I lost my baby, please pray for me and my family, please!!! God, I need you now!!”

She described her daughter as a smart, ambitious nurse who “never got into trouble.”

Parsons managed to duck into a brick doorway and escape the impact, but unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for Dedeaux.

After fleeing the scene, Parsons said NOLA He later returned to try to find his friend and make a heartbreaking phone call to Dedeaux’s mother.

He told her that he last saw her daughter lying on the floor with her eyes closed.

“Did they cover her with a sheet, Zion?” Melissa asked.

“Yes,” Parsons replied. “What does that mean?” and the line went silent before the grieving mother began to cry.

He later learned that Dedeaux’s cousin survived without injury.

‘It’s different from the movies. They are real people,” he said. “People don’t talk about what that does to your brain.”

He described the harrowing scenes immediately after Jabbar burst into the crowd just after 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

“Bodies, bodies all over the street, everyone screaming and shouting,” he said.

‘People crying on the ground, like there’s brain matter all over the ground. It was just crazy, it was the most like a war zone I’ve ever seen.”

Parsons was traveling from Voodoo Chicken & Daquiris on Bourbon, near Bienville Street, at the time.

After avoiding the impact, he said he looked back and saw Dedeaux lying on the ground with her leg twisted above her head.

He took off running and later returned, but was ordered to leave Dedeaux in the street.

Parsons said he started calling local hospitals hoping she had been injured, but was unable to get any information.

“If I had been a little faster I could have stopped it,” said Parsons. ‘I haven’t had time to cry. It’s just so crazy.’
