Pamela Almanzar died Friday afternoon at a medical center in Arroyo Hondo, Dominican Republic, 10 days after a doctor allegedly performed three liposuctions that she did not approve during an operation to reduce the size of her breasts.

A mother of one died due to complications she suffered following a series of cosmetic surgeries that she allegedly never authorized a plastic surgeon in the Dominican Republic to perform.

Pamela Almanzar, 28, entrusted the renowned Dr. Edgar Contreras with a breast reduction at the Arroyo Hondo Diagnostic Medical Center on December 17.

At the pre-surgery appointment, Contreras convinced Almanzar to undergo a tummy tuck and other procedures to remove excess fat, Almanzar’s girlfriend, Dahiana Ymaya, told the Dominican newspaper Hoy.

Almanzar proceeded with the breast reduction procedure and discovered from a hospital staff member that Contreras also performed liposuction on her crotch area, arms and legs without her consent.

Almánzar revealed to her friend, Yomaris Amezquita, that she had ‘fainted’ and received ‘two pints of blood,’ WhatsApp text messages obtained by Dominican newspaper Hoy.

“Liposuction was done on many things that were not in the plans,” Almánzar wrote.

She shared a photo of her breasts and told her friend: “I hope they don’t grow.”

He visited the hospital on December 23 and was told by medical staff that he was fine, despite having trouble breathing and dealing with post-operative pain.

His condition worsened on Friday, prompting an emergency visit to hospital, where he died around 2pm.

‘Pamela didn’t need anything, she was perfect, but she wasn’t satisfied,’ Ymaya said. “She wanted change, she always wanted to be fabulous.”

The Ministry of Health announced that it had launched an investigation on Monday and interviewed the cardiologist, anesthesiologist and medical director of the Arroyo Hondo Diagnostic Medical Center.

The vice minister, José Matos, told reporters that they are awaiting the results of an autopsy that will determine whether Contreras will be summoned for questioning.

“In the pre-procedure evaluation everything seemed normal,” Matos said. “But in any surgical intervention there are repercussions that can be immediate or delayed.”

Amezquita told the outlet that Almánzar opted to have surgery after noticing that her physical training and exercise were not helping her achieve her goals.

He was surprised that he chose to have surgery with Contreras.

Almánzar’s family told the CDN television channel that Contreras did not meet with the family after the young woman’s death.

Contreras, who has more than 117,000 followers on Instagram, has been accused of malpractice on at least 10 occasions since 1998, according to Dominican investigative reporter Nuria Peña.

In 2018, he was sentenced to three years in prison for falsifying documents in an attempt to take over a medical facility.

DailyMail.com has contacted Contreras for comment.
