Shattered mum breaks down as she reveals how her ‘healthy’ daughter, 21, died after receiving Covid booster – and the ‘insensitive’ text she received from her GP a year later
- Mother ‘haunted’ by vaccine death of daughter
- Her daughter had taken the Moderna booster shot
A mother has collapsed while telling a Senate inquiry how her daughter died after getting her Covid-19 vaccination.
Mum-of-two Deborah Hamilton said her life was “destroyed” after her daughter Natalie died in March 2022 in what she said was a “brutal, needless death from a Covid-19 vaccination.”
She told the Senate committee that examined two bills related to the vaccines that her daughter was a “healthy 21-year-old with her whole life ahead of her” before receiving the Moderna shot as her booster shot in February 2022.
“My daughter would be alive today without that Moderna vaccine,” she told the study.
Natalie began to fall ill the day after receiving the injection, but as a general practitioner, she was denied medical treatment for the vaccine-related illness for weeks, and staff at two hospitals misdiagnosed her as having reflux.
Nearly a year after Natalie’s death, Deborah received a text from the same GP clinic that initially brushed off her daughter’s symptoms reminding her to get a booster shot.
“Money is clearly more important to them than people’s lives,” Hamilton said.
“This text caused me severe emotional distress.”
Mum, Deborah Hamilton (pictured, right), has revealed how she is still ‘haunted’ by the death of her daughter Natalie (pictured, left) after receiving a Moderna vaccine booster in 2022
She ended up spending three weeks unconscious in the ICU at Alfred Hospital, where her “heart and body gradually collapsed.”
“All because of the Moderna vaccine, her heart and kidneys failed, her foot turned black from a blood clot and she lost feeling in her leg,” Hamilton said.
“She was unable to breathe on her own and was put on the highest form of life support, the ECMO, which resulted in spinal cord damage.
“If she had survived, Natalie most likely would never have walked again.”
Before being admitted to the Alfred, Ms Hamilton took her daughter to Monash Hospital, describing it as ‘the biggest mistake of (her) life’ and the public facility in ‘absolute shambles’.
“I still have texts in my phone from her begging me to come and be with her… this haunts me today and probably will for the rest of my life,” she said.
“The Monash Hospital left her in a chair with an IV and a full barf bag for eight hours, she was humiliated and what appears to be severe heart failure, yet she was ignored by the staff.
“They, too, misdiagnosed her and sent her home after about 16 hours.”
Hours later, she says her daughter was denied an ambulance and forced to take her to a private hospital before being taken to the Alfred.

Speaking to a Senate inquiry, Deborah slammed the hospital system for continually pushing her daughter back, claiming her symptoms came from conditions she didn’t have.

Deborah could only see her daughter for an hour a day, even though her condition had been getting worse
Ms Hamilton went on to criticize the way she was treated by hospital staff as she was unable to accompany her to initial visits and was only allowed to visit her for a short time as she lay dying.
“I was given an entire hour a day to visit my terminally ill daughter,” she said.
“This rule was so thoroughly inhumane, my daughter was dying and I could only visit her for an hour every other day.”
Ms Hamilton urged the government to ‘stop mandatory vaccinations now before more deaths and injuries’.
“An employer has no right to force an employee to have a Covid vaccination in order to remain employed. I ask you all today how you can live with the fact that you know that the Covid vaccine is causing deaths and injuries? she asked.
