A former Instagram model threatened to blow up a plane mid-flight in an explicitly fraught rant after crew members refused to give her a glass of wine, a court has heard.
Hannah Lee Pierson, 31, faced a Christchurch court on Wednesday over an altercation on an Air New Zealand flight from Melbourne to Auckland on November 7 last year.
She pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly and disruptive behavior and was released on bail to be sentenced June 23.
The court heard that Ms. Pierson asked for a glass of wine when the crew began serving food and drink, but was told it was not included in her ticket.

When the staff told her she should buy one from the menu instead, she started abusing a flight attendant.
“I’m not giving a bastard, get me fucking wine,” she called, according to court documents NZ Herald reports.
She then got up and shouted, ‘I’ll get it myself, give me that damn wine’.
Mrs. Pierson then called a servant a ‘b *** h’ and tried to leave her seat, with the crew intervening and leading her to an empty row.
While she was being held there, Ms. Pierson grabbed a crew member’s arm and squeezed it hard, then began making head movements that made the staff think she was going to head butt the servant, the summary said.
While locked in the queue, she kept trying to get out of her seat, shouting several times, “Get me goddamn wine or I’ll blow up the plane.”

The crew then handcuffed her and tied her to the seat with spare seat belts as she continued her rant.
The court summary noted that she had “ total disregard ” for the other 72 passengers on board the trans-Tasman flight, including the young children who were in the vicinity.
She eventually fell asleep for 90 minutes before landing at Auckland airport, but continued to berate the crew when she woke up on landing.
Her attorney said she intended to file for discharge without conviction and told the judge that alcohol had been a problem for her in the past.
