“After letting it sink in overnight, I’m still so shocked and sickened by yesterday’s decision – just know this is the start of your rights violation!” she wrote.

‘After my daughter was born I was extremely ill – I had 2 strokes from Lupus and APS. I continued to live with lupus for years – I always intended to be a mother with many children, but I knew that my body would not be able to carry another.

“I was also told by doctors that I could have another stroke and that I was having seizures. I became pregnant and had to make the decision to have an abortion – it was a terribly difficult decision to make, but I knew my body couldn’t carry another one.”

She continued: “That decision has to be made by the mother, and while mine was a medical decision, you have to factor that in even if you’re not ready to be a mother. Becoming a mother is a very big step in one’s life and we should want that step, not be forced.

“Although my lupus/APS is now in remission, I suddenly realized that in Texas, for example, those times I became pregnant with active lupus/APS, I would have no other decision to give birth to.

And probably die mid-pregnancy — essentially killing both mother and fetus or becoming more incapacitated. I would fly home to Australia of course, I have the resources – what would a 19 year old woman do who is unemployed and homeless? Go to jail or risk her life!’

The Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion that have been in place for nearly 50 years by deciding to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v Wade ruling.

Power has now been returned to individual states to decide whether or not to allow the proceedings.

Women with unwanted pregnancies in America will now face the choice of traveling to another state where the procedure will remain legal and available, buying abortion pills online, or having a potentially dangerous illegal abortion.
