Natalie revealed in June that she was feeling “weird” after gaining several inches after her scoliosis surgery.

‘[I’m] 183 cm tall, at least because I don’t know if I’m good yet,” she said during a Q&A on Instagram. ‘But yeah, [I’m] six feet long. It feels weird. I feel bigger.’

The Newcastle-born model had undergone surgery a month earlier to correct the curvature, which develops in about one in 15 Australian girls during puberty.

She said before undergoing that she was both “excited and terrified at the same time” about the surgery, which is not without its risks.

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that typically develops during the growth spurt phase just before puberty.

While the condition, which is estimated to affect about three percent of teens worldwide, can be caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most scoliosis is unknown.

Most cases are mild and disappear naturally, but some spinal deformities worsen as children grow.

The most severe curves can drastically reduce the amount of space in the chest cavity, making it difficult to breathe.

One of the most famous people to suffer from scoliosis is Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, who was diagnosed at the age of 11.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter underwent corrective surgery a year later and used the resulting scar as inspiration for her wedding dress.
