San Diego Padres star Tucupita Marcano faces a possible lifetime ban from MLB for betting on baseball games last season, as another betting scandal rocks the sport.
According to The Wall Street Journal on Monday, a league investigation into Marcano, 24, is underway, months after Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was accused of transferring 4.5 million dollars to a California gambling operation in March.
Marcano, an infielder, was placed on the injured list by the Pittsburgh Pirates in July of last year and underwent surgery to repair the crucial anterior ligament in his right knee.
The Padres signed him in November, but he has not yet played this season as he is still recovering from surgery.
