The 2024 MLB All-Star Game, the main attraction among this week’s festivities at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, has arrived.
The weekend has been packed with headlines, including Oregon State’s Travis Bazzana becoming the first Australian player taken first overall in the MLB Draft and Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez winning the Home Run Derby after a bizarre national anthem, which Ingrid Andress later said she performed while drunk.
Electric Pirates rookie pitcher Paul Skenes will be the National League starter, becoming the first rookie pitcher to start the All-Star Game since the Dodgers’ Hideo Nomo started, also for the National League, in 1994. Coincidentally, Nomo also started at the Texas Rangers’ home, then The Ballpark at Arlington.
Orioles pitcher Corbin Burnes receives the ball for the American League in his fourth career All-Star Game and first All-Star start.

National League first basemen could share gloves
There are three first basemen on the National League team tonight. One of them, the Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman, reportedly realized he forgot his first base glove, so he might share it with Bryce Harper tonight.
Freddie Freeman was rummaging through his locker at the time when he realized something.
His first baseman’s glove isn’t here. He put it in his bag when he returned to Los Angeles this week.
