Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning director praises lead star Tom Cruise for saving cinema: ‘He jumped off a cliff for you’
He is currently in Australia to promote his new action blockbuster Mission Impossible: The Dead Count.
And on Monday, Tom Cruise, 61, attended the film’s Sydney premiere along with film director Christopher McQuarrie, 54, who praised the actor for “saving the cinema”.
“The person I want to congratulate is the person who will always dodge compliments, Tom Cruise,” she said at the red carpet event, she reports. Variety.
“When this process started four years ago, we were entering a period where it looked like this event was headed for extinction. One person said, “No, we’re going to continue like this.” And that’s Tom.
He added that Cruise’s dedication to the craft saw him willingly perform a death-defying stunt for the film, because he knew the audience would love it.

The wild stunt sees the Hollywood actor ride a motorcycle down the side of a cliff in Norway and free fall for several seconds before pulling a parachute.
Cruise then told the crowd that it gave him immense pleasure to see the audience enjoying his performances.

Earlier this week, Cruise revealed that he has no retirement plans, saying he was inspired by Harrison Ford, who is still making movies at 80.

McQuarrie praised Tom’s willingness to go above and beyond on the film’s set, including performing a death-defying cliff-jumping motorcycle stunt.
Harrison Ford is a legend. I hope to continue going at that age, I have 20 years to reach it, he said. The Sydney Morning Herald.
“I hope to keep making Mission Impossible movies until I’m his age,” he added.
Cruise also revealed that he loves watching movies at the theater and was excited about the upcoming Oppenheimer and Barbie release.
