A baby who had to endure multiple surgeries after being pelted with hot coffee in an alleged bizarre daytime attack in a Brisbane park has finally been discharged from hospital.

Nine-month-old Luka was with his mother and a friend at Hanlon Park in Coorparoo on August 27 when he was allegedly attacked by a man who threw a thermos of coffee at him.

After more than a week in the hospital and multiple rounds of critical surgeries, the boy’s mother revealed Wednesday afternoon that the little boy was finally home.

In a post on social media, the mother said they had “been home for a few hours and he had already hit his head.”

“It’s going to be a great few months. I’ll be back in the hospital on Friday and then on Monday to start the grafting process,” he said.

A photo included in the post showed Luka smiling broadly while in his mother’s arms, with bandages on his arm and chin.

Baby Luka’s third surgery took place on Monday; earlier procedures revealed he would likely suffer scarring under his neck and chest due to severe burns.

The man allegedly behind the attack fled the park and despite more than a week of police searching and appeals to the public, officers have still not been able to locate him.

After fleeing the park, he went to a church in nearby Tarragindi, where he changed his clothes in the open air.

He then took a carshare to Brisbane CBD and travelled to Caxton Street.

The man was wearing a black hat, glasses, a plaid button-down shirt and shorts.

Last week, police released images of a man they want to speak to. He is described as being in his 30s or 40s, wearing a black hat, glasses, a T-shirt and shorts.

Detectives have released images of a man who may be able to assist in their investigation.
