A tourist was airlifted to hospital after falling just over 20 meters off a cliff at a popular Queensland tourist destination.

The man, aged in his 40s, fell off the cliff on Saturday at Paradise Caves in Noosa National Park while visiting the tourist attraction with his family.

Emergency services were called and a rescue helicopter attended the scene on the Sunshine Coast.

Footage showed paramedics surrounding the man, who had managed to reach a safer position after he fortunately landed in water that had pooled at the bottom of the cliff.

He was then airlifted out by helicopter and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The man had injuries to his arm and chest, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said.

“The incident was witnessed by the patient’s wife, initially there was a period of unconsciousness but he quickly regained consciousness,” QAS senior operations supervisor James Mayfield told Channel Nine.

“He was able to move to a location and prepare until help arrived.”
