Mindy Kaling, 44, praised actress Kate Hudson on Monday. The two have become friends as they produce a new basketball comedy series together.
She raved about the Los Angeles native’s leadership skills and ability to take on such a unique role as her character is unexpectedly named the head of a sports franchise.
Kaling said, ‘She is absolutely incredible. What’s great about Kate is that she’s a real pro, but she’s never done a sitcom before.
“I feel really lucky that she’s doing a half-hour comedy and that I’m the person writing for her,” she added of the actress.
Filming for the untitled Netflix movie has already begun as Hudson was spotted walking around Los Angeles on Monday.

“What’s also nice is that she’s not only the lead of the show, but she’s also the lead of the show. All the actors admire him,” she added of Hudson.
“She’s been famous for so long that they’re really in awe of her, but she’s incredibly warm and friendly. So it’s just awesome,” the Massachusetts native said.
Kaling noted that it was refreshing to work with her because of the maturity and professionalism she brings to a set.
The producer-slash-actress noted that she had spent much of her time working with “very young people over the last couple of years” and that she hoped to pursue something different in the future.
Having recently worked on Never Have I Ever and The Sex Lives of College Girls, the Dartmouth College graduate said she will be moving into producing more developed content.
It comes as Hudson was spotted with curlers holding back her blonde locks as she got glam.
She was photographed wearing a blue hoodie, matching sweatpants and a turquoise patterned scarf as she left her trailer.
The How to Lose a Man in 10 Days actress looked serious as she carried a can of soda water and her cell phone in her hands.
The singer-slash-actress performed her debut single live for the very first time at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards after launching her music career last month.
Kaling supported her close friend’s new career, saying, “I love her new music. I love him so much.’

The blonde beauty spoke candidly about getting into the music business as well as her songwriting process in an interview with People.
“The writing process was the most important and cathartic for me,” she said. “The songs… are very personal and each one is kind of a different expression of myself. Each (song) will be different, but obviously, I think, very authentic to me.
Although a specific release date has not yet been disclosed, the album is scheduled for release later this year as she films the accompanying music videos.
