The Milwaukee Brewers are set to explore relocation options as the team seeks to renovate American Family Field.
According to FrontOfficeSportsthe team is seeking $448 million in renovations for the stadium which was opened in 2001.
While relocation is not the decision to make, it appears MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is pressuring Wisconsin state officials to provide funds indicating the team may consider to move this fall.
American Family Field – formerly known as Miller Park – opened in 1996 ahead of its big opening day in 2001.
Prior to that, the Brewers played at Milwaukee County Stadium – a park that had been open for 50 years before closing in 2000.

This stadium replaced the old Milwaukee County Stadium which had been open since 1950
If the Brewers move, they will become one of four teams to have been moved twice in their history.
Other teams that have moved twice include the Orioles (Milwaukee to St. Louis to Baltimore), the Athletics (Philadelphia to Kansas City to Oakland), and the Braves (Boston to Milwaukee to Atlanta). The Athletics is expected to be the only team to have moved three times with a planned move to Las Vegas
The Brewers were founded as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 and only played there one season before Bud Selig moved them to Milwaukee.
Selig—who would become Major League Baseball’s commissioner—brought the team to Milwaukee to fill the void left by the Braves’ move to Atlanta.
During the franchise’s existence, the Brewers have played in both the American League and the National League.
They have won three NL Central titles – most recently in 2021 – as well as two AL East titles in the 1981 and 1982 seasons.
The Brewers reached the World Series once in 1982, where they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
It’s unclear exactly where the Brewers are reportedly looking to relocate, but rumors of expansion in recent years have seen cities like Austin, San Antonio, Nashville and Portland mentioned.
