A father and daughter who died in a crash involving a ride-sharing service in Sydney’s southwest have been identified.

Thai Duong, 41, and her daughter Haili, 12, died after the DiDi vehicle they were traveling in crashed into another car on Milperra Road, Milperra, at 7.40pm on Sunday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, near Bankstown airfield, after receiving reports that a white Toyota Ute collided with a black Toyota sedan, causing it to overturn and trap its passengers.

The 41-year-old father was sitting in the back seat of the sedan, along with his daughter Haili and 10-year-old son.

Intensive care doctors and paramedics attempted to free the rideshare passengers from the sedan, however Mr Duong and his daughter died at the scene.

The family were members of St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School in Central Bankstown.

St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School principal Patricia Laidler sent an email to parents on Monday informing them of the “tragic” accident.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that the accident reported on the news this morning involved a member of our school community,” Ms. Laidler wrote.

‘Tragically, Haili Duong from Year 6 died in the accident along with her father Thai Duong last night.

‘At this time we send our deepest condolences to the entire family who mourns this loss. The school will work closely with the family to ensure they have the support and care they need during this time.

‘Death is tragic no matter how it happens and leaves behind many loved ones who need our support more than anything during this time. As a school community, we pray for Haili and her family and she is deeply in our thoughts and prayers.”

The driver of the DiDi sedan, 52, was also treated at the scene and rushed to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
