Thousands of anti-vaxxers rally in cities across Australia for ‘freedom’ protests battling vaccine mandates

Thousands of protesters have gathered in Sydney and Melbourne to fight against vaccine mandates.

A large group gathered in Sydney’s Hyde Park on Saturday after Health Minister Brad Hazzard allowed unvaccinated protesters to gather.

Mr Hazzard said organizers should take “reasonably feasible steps” to ensure that people attending the rally were not in close contact with a Covid case, ensure that people wear masks and maintain social distancing.

A festival-style podium had been set up near St Mary’s Cathedral, where protesters braved the rain to listen to music and speeches through loudspeakers.

Controversial MP Craig Kelly was seen shaking hands among the crowd and high-five protesters a week after the United Australia Party member delivered a dramatic speech at an earlier anti-vaxx rally.

The Millions March Against Mandatory Vaccination group planned 30 protests in towns and cities across Australia.
